June & July News

By the time you read this, 2014 will have reached the tipping point. Half of the year is behind us, but there is still ample opportunity to do something significant for God before 2014 slips over the horizon. Have you felt a nudge from Him to embark on a new ministry, launch a new outreach or impact your city with revival? Let’s boldly step out in faith and end the year rejoicing over what He has done through us! I believe heaven stands ready to work with us!

Texas Bible College

Bro. Bret Cooley recently tendered his resignation as President of Texas Bible College. He and his wife, Sis. Dedie Cooley, have faithfully served the College for the past nine years. During their tenure, they led the College in growth and enhanced its stability. They have impacted the future of hundreds of students who in turn will touch multiplied thousands. They leave a College that is strong and ready for an even greater future. We applaud and thank Bro. & Sis. Cooley for giving themselves untiringly to this vital work. We pray God’s blessing upon them, their family and their future ministry.

The TBC Board met jointly with the Texas District Board and brought a recommendation that Bro. Carl McLaughlin be appointed as the Interim President of the College. This recommendation was met with unanimous support by both boards. Bro. McLaughlin has demonstrated a passion for Christian education and for equipping young people. He is a graduate of TBC, earned a Masters of Arts in Ministry with a concentration in Christian Leadership from Hope University, and he has taught college-level courses online.

Bro. McLaughlin presented a compelling vision for the College to the boards. While appointed as Interim President, Bro. McLaughlin has been empowered to pursue the vision for the College’s future. We will reassess our leadership situation prior to District Conference in 2015 and make appropriate decisions at that time.

Bro. Tim Hall has agreed to continue as Dean of Music for the College. Sis. Kendra Chandler has been hired as Director of Online Education, and she will lead the effort in the development of online courses. Sis. Chandler holds a MS in Instructional Technology from Texas A&M with a focus on online learning in higher education.  She also holds a MA in English and Education from Western New Mexico University. She is experienced in internet-mediated content development and delivery. She will work remotely from the DFW area. Through online courses TBC will literally be able to touch the world!

Camp Meeting 2015

We just concluded a great Camp Meeting, and plans are already underway for next year. Bro. Lee Wells has been asked to serve as the Camp Meeting Coordinator. Bro. Rick Martin will be leading the development and rollout of a slate of equipping workships to be held during Camp Meeting. Look for other exciting developments as the display and booth area is enhanced under the direction of Sis. Michelle King. We will continue to upgrade media technology and our web presence. Texas Camp Meeting touched an enlarged audience this year via live streaming. We believe that 2015 will see an even greater attendance . . . on-site and online. We have a great line up of speakers for next year with Bro. Sam Emory as our Evangelist and Bro. David Bernard as our Bible Teacher. The Camp Meeting is set for June 8 -12, 2015. Make plans now to attend!

District Board & Department Head Retreat

In August the District Board and the District Department Heads will meet in a retreat to develop plans and goals for the Texas District.  While plans will be formulated for the coming year, we will also be setting goals for growth to be reached by 2020. The growing population of our District and the Great Commission demand that we be focused on extending our reach with more churches and additional ministers. Please pray for these leaders as they meet.

“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
Matthew 9:38 KJV

Kevin L. Prince
District Superintendent
